 Mountainside RV and Campgrounds

… is a genuinely quiet guest vacation camping site in the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma. Perfect for hunting, camping, hiking and/or just relaxing with friends and family, and conveniently located with easy highway access. It is a great place for family reunions, weddings and other group events. We are located in Octavia, a small community close to Smithville, OK and centrally located between Broken Bow, OK, Poteau, OK and Mena, AR. We have three cabins and 20 RV campsites equipped with water and electric (pull in and back in spots, both 30 and 50 AMP sites available, along with a dump station) as well as tent sites.  Picnic tables, a charcoal grill, gas grill and a 20×40 pavilion offering kitchen and microwave are all available to our campers. Firewood and ice are available for sale on site as well. We also have horse stalls available.

OUR BIG CABIN

The 3 bedroom cabin accommodates 6 adults and is fully stocked with all you need, just bring your clothing, food and drinks!  It has a game room with a full size pool table and Dish satellite TV.

SLEEPING CABINS

Two simple  one-room cabins with 1 double bed and twin bunk beds.  Perfect for a small family looking to keep the budget down or hunting buddies.  Close to the shower and bathroom facilities for convenience.

RV AND TENT CAMPING

30 and 50 amp pull in and back in RV sites complete with water and electric, along with a choice of tent campsites.  All come with picnic tables and grills.  Firewood and ice are available for purchase.

Hunting All Year Round

The perfect hunting camp! General hunting information is available from The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.  Wild hog hunting is available year round with some restrictions.  Deer,  turkey, bear, and small game are season specific. Please check for licensing and season information before you arrive to assure that you will be able to enjoy your hunting experience while you are here.

THINGS TO DO

Along with rest and relaxation, there are many activities to keep you busy! Beaver’s Bend Resort Park offers an 18-hole golf course, fishing, swimming, boating and their wildlife museum. Canoe and kayak trips can be arranged through them or through various other local companies. Jeepers – the campground is less than 20 miles from 2 of the entrances to the Kiamichi (K) trail. The Talimena Scenic Drive is just 20 miles away and offers spectacular views! Motorcyclists will love the winding country roads. Enjoy lunch and more beautiful scenery at Queen Wilhelmina State Park and Lodge. Antique stores and other shopping venues abound in Broken Bow, OK, Hochatown, OK and Mena, AR.

RESTAURANTS NEARBY

For those who want to camp without the fuss of cooking meals; there are several options locally. Mountain Country Store is a great place for fresh pizza as well as a full menu and CJ’s Corner Store has delicious Hamburgers and BBQ sandwiches. Just 9 miles from camp is Honobia Creek Store, Bigfoot’s Official Hamburger Heaven! You can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Shela Cafe in Smithville offers good food and a full menu. There is also a Dollar General in Smithville for most of your shopping needs.

More restaurants are a short drive away in Broken Bow, OK and Mena, AR.

Meet Your Hosts

This camp is owned and operated by Ron & Lejuana Tennyson. We recently retired and we wanted to start our own business where we could have personal interaction with people from different areas and backgrounds.

We bought Mountainside Campground as we love the area. We like to ride the mountain roads on our motorcycles, Drive the local trails and visit with old friends and make new ones! We hope you will come to visit with us and enjoy your stay here at Mountain Side Camp as much as we love living here!
